While the sales figure is a strong indicator to gauge the popularity of a particular two-wheeler, it is generally the after sales experience that goes a long way in scoring a loyal or a dis-satisfied customer. Based on the survey responses of randomly selected and/or specifically targeted consumers, .J.D. Power, well known for their post sales customer satisfaction research, particularly in the auto sector, have announced their list of awards for the best two-wheelers in their respective segment in India.
In the scooter segment, which grew by 23% in FY 2013-14 and is expected to build on that growth by another 8 – 12% this year, it is the TVS Wego that came out as the best executive scooter in initial quality, while it was the Yamaha Ray/Ray Z which has turned out to be the most new appealing scooter in the execution and layout study.
The Hero Splendor iSmart stands out as the best economy motorcycle in initial quality, while it is the TVS Sport which is the most appealing. However, the Super Splendor takes the cake in both the categories for the most appealing and best executive motorcycle, sharing the award with the Honda CB Shine in the latter.
The Yamaha Fazer takes the award for being the best upper executive motorcycle in initial quality, while it is the Yamaha FZ and the now discontinued Honda CB Unicorn which are the most appealing.
At the premium end of things, the Bajaj Avenger takes top honors in initial quality, whereas appeal wise, the TVS Apache RTR 180 takes the cherry home.
