It seems like the boffins at Suzuki are in no mood to rest on their laurels. After having come out with the next gen Suzuki SX4 S-Cross crossover recently, the carmaker could be now busy readying the next generation of the Alto compact car.
Some eagle-eyed members of SuzukiFan recently came across a prototype of what seemed to be an A-segment hatchback. The car was seen testing on a highway in Southern Europe and it is being said that the car that been spotted is none other than the next generation Suzuki Alto.
As can be made out from the pics, the car looks dimensionally similar to the current Alto and our guess is that the car is in final stages of development. On closer observation of the pics, it can be made out that the car sports thick B and C Pillars and the front grille seems to have taken inspiration from that of the new SX4 crossover. Also, the taillamps seem to bear resemblance to those on the current JDM-spec Alto.
The Suzuki Alto has been among the most successful of cars from the Japanese auto maker. The current Alto, which is the sixth generation model, is also sold as the A-Star in many car markets (like that of India). The current gen Alto came way back in 2009 and hence, it would only be logical for Suzuki to soon come up with the next generation model. The next gen Alto is expected to be higher on space, fuel economy and power. Also, the new car could also come with a diesel engine option and a hybrid variant.
