The 2015 Ford Figo sedan and hatchback, both manufactured and exported from Sanand, India, have been launched in South Africa. Set to be launched in 50 global markets, South Africa is amongst the first one’s to receive India-made Figo twins. While the 2015 Ford Figo hatchback is priced from ZAR 158,900 – ZAR 203,900 (INR 7.7 lakhs – INR 9.9 lakhs), the Ford Figo sedan is priced from ZAR 160,900 – ZAR 205,900 (INR 7.84 lakhs – INR 10.04 lakhs).
However, the Figo sedan launched in SA is not to be confused with the Figo Aspire, as the boys across the ocean get the full-sized sedan, unlike the sub-4 meter long Aspire we get. Features on the new Ford Figo sedan and hatchback include the MyFord Dock (Ambient and Trend), voice-activated SYNC infotainment system with support for Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in, power-folding ORVMs, automatic climate control, Ford’s intelligent MyKey, leather seats etc.
Engine options for South Africa include the familiar 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol engine, good for 112 PS of power and 136 Nm of torque, along with the new 1.5 liter TDCi engine producing 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed dual clutch automatic, the latter exclusive to the Figo hatchback and the petrol engine.
