Hyundai Venue facelift

Hyundai Venue gets a more Powerful Diesel Engine

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is one of the first OEMs to update their products to the new RDE norms kicking in on April 1. While some diesel variants have been or will be discontinued (Grand i10 Nios, i20), others get an updated engine. The Hyundai Venue is one of the first ones to get the updated RDE-compliant diesel engine.

New Engine?

Technically, this is not a new engine. This is the same 1.5L diesel mill that powers the Creta, Alcazar, Kia Carens, and Seltos. This unit comes with a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) as opposed to the previous FGT (Fixed Geometry Turbocharger). The engine is now RDE and E20 compliant. As for the power figures, it produces 115 hp and 250 Nm as compared to the 100 hp and 240 Nm that the old engine produced. Given the lower weight of the Hyundai Venue, this should translate into better performance and acceleration. The Hyundai Venue also gets the integrated starter generator (ISG) which has the start-stop technology to enhance fuel economy.
