Hyundai Elantra Sport Edition will spawn only 999 units
Hyundai has launched the Elantra Sport Edition for the Malaysian market. Despite the name, the Elantra Sport Edition is mostly about changing the standard saloon’s cosmetic appeal, plus some additional features in the cabin. Underneath all the fancy toppings, this limited edition is basically a base 1.6L Elegance model. The exterior gets interesting ‘Limited Edition’ bar code stickers which also bear the production number of this limited edition car (for eg. 001). Other noticeable changes on the outside include sportier-looking bumpers, side-skirts, rear diffuser and dual chrome-tipped exhaust pipes; there’s also fancy decals painted in contrasting red colours.
Contrasting red trim helps break the monotony
Hyundai will sell the Elantra Sport Edition in two colours; Creamy White and Phantom Black. Inside the cabin, the Sport Edition of the Elantra gets a 6.2-inch touch-enabled infotainment system that supports Bluetooth and DVD playback. Hyundai will offer a reverse parking camera as an optional extra. Being based on the entry-level variant of the Elantra, this sportier-looking Hyundai saloon doesn’t come with foglights, leather seats, or 17-inch alloys. Under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder GAMMA petrol engine that’s paired to a 6-speed autobox and develops 130 PS of power and 157 Nm of torque.
No leather seats, but Hyundai offers a 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system
Hyundai has priced the Elantra Sport Edition at RM 91,928 or INR 15.40 lakh in Malaysia. Anyway, let us know if you liked this limited edition variant of the Hyundai Elantra. Also, note that there is little to no chance of Hyundai bringing the Elantra Sport Edition to India.
