Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), today announced that its i20 model range has achieved 1 million units in global sales. The i20 was launched in India in 2008 and was very well received in the domestic market with its fluidic sculpture design language. Even while selling for a premium over the usual hatchbacks, the i20 managed to garner great numbers. The spacious interior, stylish exterior and a rich features list made it very popular among the upwardly mobile audience. Hyundai India calls the i20 a ‘Make in India-Made for World’ product.

Apart from the sales figures, the i20 also holds the title of being the most awarded car in the Indian automobile landscape winning as many as 34 awards since inception. The car also won the coveted Indian Car of the year (ICOTY) award in 2015. Hyundai, in general has dominated the ICOTY whenever they had a new mainstream model launch for the year. The sales for the model series includes the numbers logged by the i20, Elite i20 and the i20 Active.
