Hyundai Genesis Coupe gets 800hp thanks to Blood Type Racing

Remember the insane 1000 horsepower Genesis Coupe that Hyundai built in collaboration with Bisimoto Engineering for the SEMA show last year in Las Vegas? Well, SEMA 2014 is coming up and so it’s time for another dose of the same insanity.

Thankfully, this time, Hyundai has opted for something a wee bit less outrageous, and gone looking to Blood Type Racing for their inputs. We say wee bit, because the result is still an 800 horsepower Hyundai Genesis Coupe dressed in flaming red. All thanks to a finely tuned and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with forged connecting rods, forged pistons and GSC Stage 2 Cams. The engine also boasts a custom intake manifold, an optimized ECU and a Precision Turbo turbocharger. Other highlights include upgraded fuel injectors, a dual exhaust system and a custom intercooler. The six-speed manual has also been upgraded with a competition clutch, an upgraded flywheel and a short throw shifter.

And what use is all that power if ordinary plebeians can’t feel it while the car is stationary? To that end, the Genesis Coupe now comes with extended fenders, front lip spoiler, rear diffuser, rear wing, and snazzy 19-inch wheels shod with Toyo Tyres.

The sporty styling continues in the cabin with Sabelt racing seats, sports steering wheel and Tanabe OLED Revel gauges. The rear seats has also been removed and replaced by a Cusco roll cage.

Given the extreme engineering that has gone into the modifications, we don’t believe this monster will ever be on sale for the public, and will remain a show exclusive.
