Hyundai Elantra facelift to be launched in South Korea next month

Added in: Hyundai

It is well known that Korean Auto giant Hyundai has been busy with readying the Elantra facelift. It has now emerged that the Elantra facelift will enter the South Korean car market on August 24.

The latest gen Elantra has to be one of the best looking sedans to have ever come from Hyundai and the car has got plenty of rave reviews for its design. The Elantra, which is also sold as the Avante in many markets, has been a bestseller, both in US and Indian markets. We feel that the facelift should be a step in right direction to preserve the freshness of the car.

The Elantra facelift is expected to come with a revised front bumper, new foglamps and re-profiled headlamps. As can be made out from the pics here, the car will also get new design alloy wheels. At the rear, the car will get slight revisions made to its taillamps. The interiors too are likely to get minor updates.

It hasn’t been much time since the Elantra has been in India and the facelift is unlikely to come to us before end of next year. The Elantra, which battles it out against the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Chevrolet Cruze in Indian market, is the highest selling car in its segment. Powering the petrol variant of the car is a 1.8 liter, four cylinder, normally aspirated engine that benefits from variable valve technology. The engine has a max power output of 148 Bhp and a peak torque figure of 181 Nm. The diesel variant is powered by a 1.6 Liter common rail turbo diesel engine that has a max power output of 126 Bhp and a peak torque figure of 265 Nm. Both the engines can be ordered either with a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic gearbox. Safely expect these motors to be carried over to the facelift.
