We got a glimpse of the future Honda Compact SUV when the Japanese auto maker revealed the Concept Urban SUV at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. Now, we have some more details on the upcoming Jazz-based crossover from Honda.

The Honda Jazz based compact SUV will be developed keeping in mind developed markets such as that of U.S, Japan and Europe. However, the car might be produced at Mexico or Argentina. The new crossover will built on the carmaker’s new modular platform and this is the same platform that will underpin the next generation Jazz and City. The platform sharing will enable the manufacturer to price the crossover ultra competitively.

The Honda crossover will measure 4.30 m in length and will ride on 18 inch wheels. It is being said that the car will be the spiritual successor to HR-V. However, the car will be sold with a new name.

The car will borrow plenty of design cues from Concept Urban SUV and will look at least as modern as the Ford EcoSport and Chevrolet Trax

The new SUV will feature Honda’s trademark Magic Seat arrangement and will also have a flat floor for maximum interior space.

Not much is known about the power options for the new crossover but it is being speculated that the new compact crossover might be powered by a high performance 1.5L petrol engine and a 1.6L i-DTEC diesel engine.

Honda’s Compact SUV could debut in 2015 soon after the new City and Jazz.
