Honda’s “Amaze”-ing Compact Sedan Gets A Facelift; Launched At ₹6.32 Lakh

The Honda Amaze has been winning the hearts of Honda fans since its launch in 2013. The compact sedan got its mid-cycle facelift in 2018. After three years of its mid-cycle facelift, Honda has given the Amaze its much-required update and launched the New 3rd-Gen Amaze today. The refreshed Amaze now has received some exterior and interior changes that make the car look and feel more premium.

Engine

Before getting to the visual changes let’s talk about the engine specs. The New Amaze is now offered in two powertrains. For the petrol heads, Honda has equipped the Amaze with the 1.2L 4-cylinder i-VTECH petrol mill that produces 90 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm torque at 4,800 rpm. This engine can be mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox and boasts an 18.6 kmpl mileage.

As for the diesel, Honda has provided the option of the 1.5L diesel engine that puts out 200 Nm torque and 100 PS power when paired with a 6-speed manual and 80 PS when paired with the CVT automatic gearbox. Honda claims that this engine is capable of delivering a mileage of 24.7 kmpl

Exterior

The New Amaze has some major changes on the exterior. Starting at the front there is a new wing-faced chrome grille flanked by all-new projector Signature LED headlamps and DRLs along with chrome garnished LED fog lamps. The top-of-the-line VX variant also gets automatic headlamps, chrome door handles, 15-inch multi-spoke alloys, LED turn indicators and LED tail lamps and a rear parking camera.

The New Amaze is available in five colours – Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red, Meteoroid Grey, Lunar Silver and Golden Brown.

Interior

There’s not a lot of new stuff on the inside except for the 7-inch Digipad 2.0 infotainment system that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto, chrome garnish on the dashboard, chrome door handles on the inside and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Besides these, the car comes equipped with paddle shifters for the CVT variants. The upholstery is the same beige fabric as in the outgoing car.

The New Amaze is broadly available in three variants namely the E, S and VX both in petrol and diesel powertrains. However, the petrol CVT will be available only in the S and VX trims while the diesel CVT will be available only in the VX trim. The base E variant is basically the current Amaze that is being sold. The New Amaze starts at ₹6.32L for the base E variant and goes all the way up to ₹11.15L for the top-of-the-line diesel CVT. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
