Honda Unveils Two Cutting-Edge EV SUVs

Honda has recently unveiled two groundbreaking electric SUVs, the E:NS2 and E:NP2, set to hit select international markets soon.

Building on the success of their predecessors showcased at the Shanghai motor show, these EVs promise to redefine the electric vehicle landscape with their futuristic designs and cutting-edge technology.

Distinguishing Features

The E:NS2 and E:NP2, although near-identical in dimensions, battery, and motor, showcase distinct designs in their lights and bumpers.

The Dongfeng-built e:NS2 boasts angular LED Daytime Running Lamps, reminiscent of Peugeot’s cars, while the GAC-built e:NP2 features horizontal DRLs, resembling Honda’s latest Civic.

Both models share a common design element with broad horizontal bars on the front and rear bumpers, adding a touch of high-tech sophistication.

A Blend of Crossover and SUV

A standout feature of both EV SUVs is the sloping rear roofline, giving them a more crossover-like appearance rather than the typical upright SUV look. The broad horizontal bars on the front and rear bumpers not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal but also evoke a sense of high-tech innovation, resembling modern air conditioning units.

Battery and Power

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filings, both the E:NS2 and E:NP2 are equipped with a single motor generating an impressive 204hp, powered by a 68.8kWh battery. The identical wheelbase, width, and height – 2,735mm, 1,840mm, and 1,570 mm, respectively – ensure a uniform design, while the NP2 claims a marginal edge in overall length.

Honda’s EVs for India

While there is no official confirmation regarding the introduction of E:NS2 and E:NP2 in India, Honda’s Asian Compact Electric (ACE) project signals a broader commitment to the electric vehicle market in the country. The project, set to launch an Elevate-based EV in 2026, is underway with Honda actively retooling its plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan.

Honda’s Electric Journey

Honda’s unveiling of the E:NS2 and E:NP2 marks a significant stride in the realm of electric vehicles. Their futuristic designs, coupled with advanced technology and sustainable power solutions, position Honda as a frontrunner in the global electric automotive landscape.
