Honda to Launch City CNG This Diwali

Honda City dominated the upper C segment for about a decade and still continues to be one of the more popular midsize sedans out there. However, thanks to petrol prices deciding to touch the moon, sales of the City have been on a decline since some time now.  Japanese auto major doesn’t appears to be in a mood to bring in an oil burner for the C segmenter anytime soon and has now decided to come up with a CNG variant of the City to take on the fast selling diesel rivals. Honda feels that the City CNG will be able to eat into the sales of high selling rivals like Hyundai Verna Diesel and Volkswagen Vento Diesel. (We feel that Honda is being a tad too optimistic here.)

Honda will strengthen the suspension of the City CNG after taking into account the additional weight of the CNG tank that will be placed in the boot. The car will also get a revised instrument cluster to accommodate the CNG level indicator. The CNG kits will be fitted at the dealers and not at the factory. The City CNG will cost Rs 50,000-60,000 more and the car should be out during the upcoming festive season.
