Honda to launch an all new two wheeler in a year’s time

Honda's new motorcycle for India

This may sound exciting or maybe not, but Honda has revealed that a joint team of 200 engineers from Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and Honda Research & Development India are currently working on a project.

The project is a completely new “Made in India’ two wheeler that would be ready to hit the market in a year’s time. HMSI President and CEO Keita Muramatsu said “Yes, there is work going on to produce a 100 per cent locally developed product in India.” But as it goes with Honda, he maintained complete suspense over the type of two wheeler under development.

Adding to Mr. Muramatsu’s statement, HMSI Vice-President Sales & Marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria said “The work is happening at our technical centre at Manesar, which has an integrated system of design, engineering, purchasing and quality under one roof. Within next one year we hope to be able to show you something. We are the only two-wheeler maker in India with a wind tunnel testing and it puts us in an advantage while developing truly fuel efficient two-wheelers.”

As usual Honda is keeping the cards close to its chest, leaving us clueless as to what’s working on the other side of the curtain. A positive conclusion can only be made considering the newly setup wind tunnel, which hints at performance oriented motorcycles making their way out of Honda’s Manesar headquarters. But on the other hand a wind tunnel could also be put to use for economical and efficient two wheelers which has been dominating in this part of the world for decades.

But either ways, we’re waiting.
