Honda To Introduce 100cc Bikes By Next Year

Revenge is the purest emotion. Well that’s on the mind of Honda bikes after their separation with Hero three months back, the Japanese Bike Company is working hard to introduce a 100cc bike and is going to invest a large sum to expand their production. Shinji Aoyama, outgoing president and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd said that they are planning to introduce mass segment in the 100cc from next year.

Since Honda was in the Hero Honda collaboration they could not enter the 100cc market, but now since there is no kind hindrance Honda will try to take over this segment as elegantly as it took the 150cc with the introduction of the Unicorn. In the next ten years Honda targets to be number one in the bike industry in India.

Talking about the split in Hero Honda JV, In December 2010, the Board of Directors of the Hero Honda Group have decided to dismiss the joint venture between Hero Group of India and Honda of Japan in a phased manner. Under the joint venture Hero Group could not sell into international markets and the termination would mean that Hero Group can exploit global opportunities now. Since last 25 years the Hero Group relied on their Japanese partner Honda for R & D for new bike models. So there are concerns that the Hero Group might not be able to sustain the performance of the Joint Venture alone
