Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, Honda, has announced that the Dio has successfully crossed the 30 lakh sales milestone. The trendy scooter is one of India’s most loved two-wheeler and is extremely popular among the youth of this nation. The Dio is included in the list of the top-4 best-selling Scooters of India. The scooter is a part of the ‘Make in India’ campaign and is also India’s No.1 exported scooter.
It took Honda, more than 14 years to achieve the first 15 lakh sales milestone, however, the latest 15 lakh sales were achieved in a period of just 3 years. This feat was achieved almost 5 times faster than the former pace. After all these years, the Dio has still managed to retain its importance in Honda’s lineup. Dio is not only delighting the young customers of India but is also enjoying the global limelight. With over 44% export market share in the scooter segment, Dio is the largest exported scooter of India. The scooter is exported to more than 11 South Asian and Latin American countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Colombia and many more.
The new 2019 Dio comes with an LED headlamp and a fully digital tachometer fitted for extra convenience. The Dio is available in 9 attractive colours under 2 variants, Standard and Deluxe. The standard trim is offered in Vibrant Orange, Sports Yellow, Sports Red, Candy, Jazzy Blue, Matte Axis, Grey Metallic. However, the deluxe variant is also available in Dazzle Yellow Metallic, Matte Marshal Green Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic. In terms of engine and performance, the Dio gets a 110cc, 4-stroke engine which is good enough to produce 8 HP at 7,000 rpm and 8.91 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The scooter also gets a top-speed of 83 kmph and a fuel tank capacity of 5.3-litres and has an overall weight of just 104 kgs. The Dio is attractively priced, starting at Rs. 52,938 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
