Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) saw their domestic sales grow 23% from 331,859 units to 407,979 units in June’16. Honda’s automatic scooter sales jumped 21% and stood at 265,361 units led by Activa, which is India’s best selling two-wheeler of 2016. Increased demand of motorcycles led by CB Shine SP, CD 110 Dream DX, Livo and CB Hornet 160R saw Honda’s motorcycle sales grow 27% to 142,618 units.
Honda’s exports grew by 13% from 17,015 units in June’15 to close at 19,243 units in June’16 total of 427,222 units in June’16 (compared to 348,874 units in June’15). Honda added 78,348 new units in June’16 and contributed 65% to total industry’s new volume addition, apart from being the two-wheeler industry’s leading market share gainer in June’16. Fully utilizing the new capacity of its recently inaugurated 4th plant in Gujarat, Honda’s total market share has increased 3.1% points to 26% in June 2016.
