Hero Xtreme 200S Launched At INR 98,500

With the strategy to expand one platform into four products, Hero Motocorp launched three new motorcycles today. Where the Xpulse 200 and 200T are adventure and touring focussed products, the Hero Xtreme 200S is for those who need a machine which is sporty and looks stylish. Sharing most of its components with the Xtreme 200R, the Xtreme 200S will ask for INR 98,500 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be available in three colour options – Sports Red Maple Brown and Panther Black.

Powering the Hero Xtreme 200S is a 200cc engine which cranks out 18.4 PS @ 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of torque @ 6500 rpm. The motor is a two-valved, air-cooled, single cylinder unit which is fueled by a carburettor. Transferring power to the rear wheel is a 5-speed gearbox and the engine can be brought to life by an electric motor and a manual Kickstarter.

The bike is based on Diamond-type frame, gets 37mm telescopic forks up front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the back. Braking duties are handled by a 276mm disc up front and 220mm unit at the back. Governing stopping power is a single-channel ABS system. Rubber size up front is 100/80 – 17 and 130/70 – 17 at the rear. The bike tips the scales at 149 kilos (kerb weight) and the fuel tank can carry 12.5 litres of fuel. In terms of kit, the instrument console is an all-digital unit, similar to the XPulse. The headlight and taillight are all-LED units. In terms of dimensions, the bike is 2062mm long, 778mm wide and 1106mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 1337mm and a seat height of 795mm with a ground clearance of 165mm.

Until then, the Hero Xpulse has been launched today at a price of INR 97,000 for the carburetted version and INR 105,000 for the Fuel-injected variant. The XPulse 200T will only be available with a carb and has been priced at INR 94,000 (All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of power, all three motorcycles are equally matched, but the 200T weighs 150 kilos and the Xpulse 200 adds 3 more. The Xpulse 200 also gets Double DJ bush forks with 190mm of travel for the front forks and 10-step pre-load adjustable, gas-charged monoshock at the back which allows for 170mm of wheel travel. All the Xpulses have a 13-litre tank and the FI variant weighs 1 kg more than the carb version.
