“This will be the year of premium. Hero re-entering and conquering the premium segment in India,” said Dr Markus Braunsperger, CTO, Hero MotoCorp and they plan to come back with a bang.
In a recent interview to Autocar Professional, Malo Le Masson, head – global product planning, Hero MotoCorp said that the 70 percent of the premium motorcycle in India is below INR 1 lakh which is where the two-wheeler brand is planning to introduce the Xtreme 200R and the XPulse 200. The new Xtreme 200R, as you must already know, the production spec version of the motorcycle was showcased in India. We’re yet to hear the prices for the new 200cc Xtreme.
Masson said, “If you look at the premium market in India, 70 percent is below INR 100,000. So this is why first we are concentrating on bringing the Xtreme 200R and the XPulse 200. We are looking first at this segment because from a volume standpoint, this is the biggest.”
To arrive as the successor to Hero MotoCorp’s Impulse, the XPulse is powered by a 200cc fuel injected, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which is tuned to deliver 18.4 PS of power and 17.1 Nm of torque. The motorcycle will feature ABS tuned for on/off road usage.

Other features include full LED headlamps, windshield, tall-set front fender, larger front wheel and wire-spoke layout, knobby set of tyres, sump guard, long travel suspension and knuckle guards.
