Six Harley-Davidson Street 750 motorcycles, specially customized for the Gujarat Police were delivered to the law keeping authorities by Nine Bridges, Harley’s dealership in Ahmedabad. Perhaps for the first time in India, a police department has chosen high-capacity motorcycles for specialized use.
What will they use it for you ask? They say it will be ridden for quick response actions by the police department, including the escort of senior ministers and visiting dignitaries and emergency response as part of a natural disaster response team, among other uses not specified.
The visible changes to the bike include a large windscreen, a chrome crash guard with an attached siren and beacons, a pillion backrest and two panniers at the rear. Explaining why the Harley was chosen over others, Pranav Nanda, Dealer Principal, Nine Bridges Harley-Davidson said, “We are proud to add these Harley-Davidson Street 750 motorcycles to the Gujrat Police arsenal. The Street 750 not only addresses the police department’s need of a performance motorcycle in challenging situations but also provides great confidence and maneuverability in urban conditions.”
Although modernization of our forces is a step in the right direction, we hope their guns and ammo have already been upgraded, so that when they come across an evil force, they don’t have to step off a Harley and find the trigger on their gun to be jammed.
