Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMSI, said that estimates carried out by Honda display 10% of two-wheeler buyers are exchange customers in the organized market and the figure reaches close to 15% if on-organized sector is considered in the count. This is very low considering that the motorcycle industry has already crossed the 16 million sales mark. Honda believes that there is a high latent demand for pre-owned bikes. Therefore following the success of the pilot project, Honda has taken a strategic decision to venture into a new business territory of pre-owned two-wheelers, with the Delhi edition Maha Exchange Mela. By the end of the current financial year 2015-16, the company aims to expand the concept to 10 cities across India.
