GM engine plant to start production from November

Come November and the new powertrain plant in Talegaon will start churning out engines with the Chevrolet badge on it. Yes, we are talking about GM new facility near Pune. The new plant is expected to produce as many as 16,000 engines a month! The main highlight of the new plant would be the production of the new small capacity diesel engine developed with FIAT, which will find its way into the Chevrolet Beat diesel early next year. The other engines would be the current powertrains that power the Cruze, upcoming Aveo twins and the Captiva. The small capacity turbocharged engines and new transmissions being developed with SAIC could also be manufactured at Talegaon in the future depending on application, demand and feasibility.
