Ford Figo Cross

Ford Figo Cross Pops Its Head Before Launch

After launching the facelifted Ecosport, Ford will be trying to light up a segment which is known to a be a largely neglected space by the average Indian car buyer. The carmaker will make a bold move by launching a Figo Cross which will be laced with faux styling elements to make it look like a car for the adventurous buyer.

The car in question has been snapped before its official launch and by the looks of it, retains the Figo’s bodyshell. Distinguishing features include a slightly different front grille, black cladding overall, and what appears to be faux cladding beneath the front bumper. What would’ve ideally looked great on the Figo S, a racing stripe, which cannot be confirmed if it runs through the roof as well has been stamped on the bonnet. It doesn’t really go along all that well with the character of a Cross, but what can you do? Like every other crossover out there, the Figo Cross gets roof rails too but it hasn’t heard of LED DRLs. It does get blacked out mirrors though.

Inside, controls for the aircon are manual but the Figo cross will be the first member of the family to borrow the floating infotainment display which made its debut with the facelifted Ecosport. Powering the Figo Cross will be Ford’s new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. Diesel-powered variants will be pushed by Ford’s refined 1.5-litre motor which remains good for a 100bhp. Both engines will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Since it looks almost ready for launch, we expect the Figo Cross to be formally launched during the upcoming Auto Expo 2018 in Delhi. What about pricing? Ford will have to dangle the carrot really low with this one to bring in the volumes. So expect the Figo Cross to be priced aggressively.
