Ford Ecosport To Get A Price Drop And Could Shed Some Features

The Ford Ecosport has been one of the oldest players in the compact SUV segment. When the car was launched in the Indian market, the segment was fairly new and being a rather well-equipped car, which put it on the path of success. However, the dynamics of the segment have changed and the competition has increased quite a bit. New entries like the Tata Nexon, the Mahindra XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue have hacked into the market share of this compact SUV. As a result, Ford is now bringing some changes to this car, which would probably reduce the price tag, translating to more sales. However, as a downside to this revision, the car would be missing out on a number of features.

One of the changes Ford could do in the revised model is to replace the SYNC3 infotainment screen with a new 9-inch touchscreen. This implies that the new model might or might not offer Android Auto or Apple CarPlay connectivity. This change pertains to the current, top of the line, Titanium+ variant. Ford will also do away with cruise control in this variant. Moreover, the Titanium variant will miss out on sunglass holder, the rear armrest and some more. Moreover, the all-black leather upholstery shall be replaced with new upholstery finished in a shade of beige. Fortunately, no changes have been made on the safety front and the car will continue to be sold with the same amount of airbags and safety features as before.

The oil burner, is a 4-pot, 1.5-litre, turbocharged motor, tuned to generate 100 PS of peak power and 205 Nm of maximum twist. Ford only offers a 6-speed manual transmission with this engine.
