The Ford EcoSport has to be among the most awaited cars in Indian market today. The compact SUV, whose concept model was unveiled back in early 2012, is taking its own sweet time coming to Indian market. Although Ford India has already kickstarted the promotional campaign for the EcoSport, the car is still a couple months away from being introduced in to the car market.
In India, the car will be sold with three engine options- a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0 litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5 litre turbocharged oil burner that, in all probability, would become the most popular engine variant.
The Ford EcoSport is already on sale in the car markets of Brazil, Mexico and China. However, these markets get a different set of engine variants and transmission options. None of these markets have a diesel engine option. This might be set to change as reports have emerged that Ford Argentinia might soon start selling diesel powered EcoSport. Argentinian car market might also get 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre petrol engine options in near future.
In Argentina, Ford EcoSport diesel will be available only with entry spec S and SE trim levels.
