Ford EcoSport Diesel Booking Resumed. Ambient and Trend Variants Available

Added in: Ford

Regulars here would remember that we reported in detail when it came to light that in lieu of the burgeoning demand and the car maker’s inability to meet it, Ford India dealerships across the nation have suspended the bookings for the EcoSport. It was being said that bookings for the Diesel powered variants and those powered by the EcoBoost petrol engine would be resumed only at the advent of this year’s festive season.

However, a call to our friends at Ford India’s Pune dealership has revealed that bookings have been resumed for the Ambient and Trend trim levels of the diesel variant and the waiting period for these models is 3 months and 5 months respectively. The booking amount is INR 50000.

Bookings for the high-end Titanium variant is still being kept on hold. It may be noted that it recently emerged that the high end Titanium variant will now be offered without two key features- keyless entry and push button start. These features will now be available only on the Titanium Option Pack variant. Ford India says that the Titanium models have been rationalized to clearly differentiate between the Titanium and Titanium Option Pack trim levels. The Titanium Option pack is pricier than the Titanium by INR 15,000.

While the recent news of re-opening of bookings for the Ambient and Trend trim levels would please many, those who booked the EcoSport Titanium prior to the recent price hike and omission of features now face two options-

  • Somehow manage to digest the increased price and less equipment and wait to get the delivery of their car
  • Cancel the bookings and in the process, losing on some of the booking amount in lieu of cancellation charges.

The EcoSport has to be the most successful of all mainstream cars of recent times. Not only has the compact SUV managed to outsell every other SUV in the country but has also been a shot in the arm for the Indian subsidiary of Ford by becoming their best selling car ever.

However, it remains to be seen if the car maker’s inability to meet the very high demand, coupled with price hikes and features-omission, would put off many potential EcoSport buyers and result into a decrease in the demand.

Tell us, now that the bookings for Ambient and Trend trim levels of the diesel variant have been resumed, do you wish to put down your money on the EcoSport, in spite of the recent price rise and ever increasing waiting periods? Do let us know by commenting below.
