Finally! Hero 250cc bike coming to 2014 Indian Auto Expo

If a recent report from Economic Times is to be believed, Hero MotoCorp, the erstwhile Hero Honda and the largest selling bike maker in the country, will showcase a new 250 cc bike at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo that will be held in early February next year.

The upcoming Hero 250cc bike is the same model that has been developed with technical assistance from partner Erik Buell Racing (EBR). It is being said that most of the preliminary R&D for all upcoming Hero products will be done at Eric Buell Racing’s R&D centre and only the manufacturing processes for these bikes will take place at Hero plants in India. The upcoming Hero 250cc bike will sport a half fairing and will rival the Honda CBR250R and the Hyosung GT250R in the fast developing 250cc performance bike market.

Currently, the 223cc Karizma ZMR is the flagship model in the popular bike maker’s product portfolio. The ZMR recently got a comprehensive makeover and the facelifted version will be launched at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

The upcoming Hero 250cc bike could be just what the doctor has ordered and we feel that it would be interesting to note how well a Hero-EBR product fares against the more established products in the fast growing 250cc performance bike segment of Indian Two Wheelers market. What do you feel? Will Hero, with assistance from EBR, be able to come up with a worthy rival to the rather lethal Honda CBR250R? Do let us know by penning your thoughts in the comments section below.

  1. Hopefully this bike will be a great budget sports tourer, by the looks of it. Can’t help feeling this bike has a resemblance to the P220.

  2. I seriously doubt , the design of the bike should be more aggressive like CBR 250cc. See performance is a big factor in the market, but u can't compromise with the design
