As per a new report that has surfaced in Germany, BMW and Toyota have finally agreed to jointly develop a new sports car platform.

Details on this upcoming sports car platform are scarce but BMW development boss Dr. Herbert Diess has told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung “We have agreed on a joint architecture for a sports car. What is important is that there will be two different vehicles that are authentic to the two brands.

While that doesn’t exactly tell us much but it is believed that the manufacturers have zeroed-in on one particular model from as many as “four, five or six” different proposals that were being considered.

Also, there is no info on what kind of car will the upcoming platform would underpin but rumours have been abounding that it could be an all-new BMW Z4 or the next Lexus LFA.
