We reported in detail when it recently emerged that Fiat India would launch a new range of entry level variants of its Linea sedan tomorrow and now, pics of this variant have surfaced on the cyber spce.
The soon-to-be-launched line will be called Fiat Linea Classic and would be the first of the total of nine launches that Fiat India has planned for next three years. Basically, the Fiat Line Classic will be the regular Linea minus some bells and whistles.
As has been revealed by the recent sighting, the Fiat Linea Classic won’t come with fog lamps, alloy wheels, Blue&Me, Steering mounted audio controls, climate control and power windows for rear windows.
Powering the Fiat Linea Classic would be the same petrol and diesel engines that power the regular Linea. However, the won’t get the T-Jet petrol engine option. The 1.4 litre petrol engine on offer has a max power of 89 BHP and the 1.3 litre Multi jet diesel engine is good for 90PS . Both the motors have been mated to 5 speed manual gearbox.
The Linea Classic, armed with a really aggressive price tag, is expected to remain on sale once the Linea facelift replaces all the regular models. It may be noted that the Linea facelift is expected to come with more features and hence, a higher price tag. The Linea facelift could also come with a more powerful 1.6 litre Multijet diesel engine. The Fiat Linea facelift India launch is expected to happen in February next year, close on the heels of the Indian Auto Expo, where the car will be make its India debut.
The Linea Classic will be seen rivalling the flagship variants of Honda Amaze, Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios and the Chevrolet Sail. Stay tuned for more info on the upcoming Fiat Linea Classic.
