It has emerged that Fiat India would launch a new range of entry level variants of its Linea sedan on September 25. The soon-to-be-launched line, which would go on sale with Fiat Linea Classic moniker, would be the first of the total of nine launches that Fiat India has planned for next three years.
The Fiat Line Classic will be nothing but the regular Linea minus some bells and whistles. There also are good chances that it would get a less powerful engine.
Talking about the upcoming Linea Classic, Nagesh Basavanhalli, Fiat India’s head, said,”When you come to the Linea Classic, that’s a specific part of the C-Segment. We are playing significantly in the ‘C-High’ segment. The ‘C-Lower’ which is the other aspect of the C-Segment, is what we believe is very viable and effective, and so we clearly are going after that market. We believe that the Linea has the legs to grow in the C Segment. However the Classic is not a sub-4 meter product.”
The Linea Classic, armed with its really aggressive price tag, is expected to remain on sale once the Linea facelift replaces all the regular models. It may be noted that the Linea facelift is expected to come with more features and hence, a higher price tag. The Linea facelift could also come with a more powerful 1.6 litre Multijet diesel engine. The Fiat Linea facelift India launch is expected to happen in February next year, close on the heels of the Indian Auto Expo, where the car will be make its India debut.
The Linea Classic will be seen rivalling the flagship variants of Honda Amaze, Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios and the Chevrolet Sail. Stay tuned for more info on the upcoming Fiat Linea Classic.
