Fiat India showed a nice mix of vehicles lined up for their Indian debut on day 2 of the 2010 Auto Expo. Fiat unveiled the 110 bhp turbo-petrol Linea, to overcome its power deficit compared to rivals like the Honda City. The new turbo petrol might be a a couple of bhp down on power, when compared to the City, but it more than makes up for the power deficit with 55 more torques compared to the City. There were also a couple of Puntos on show. The most important of them being the one with the Linea’s 90 bhp, 1.3 diesel. Fiat also showcased a CNG-petrol flex fuel variant of the Punto and some interesting design editions.

Fiat India will have its entire range of cars currently sold in the country on display at its stall. Along with its existing product portfolio, the manufacturer will also preview two new cars which are slated for a 2010 launch.
Fiat Linea 2010
Fiat India has got big plans for India in 2010, with the new revised version of its top selling sedan- the Linea. A 1.6 litre Multijet Diesel engine producing 105 PS will find home in the Fiat Linea. There has been a lot of commotion about both these cars being underpowered for the amount of weight they carry. The 1.6 Multijet might hence do the trick for FIAT.
The revamped version of the Linea is believed to emit lesser vibrations because of the new engine mounts (across all engine variants) installed in it. With a minor tweak in the ECU the new Linea will churn out a better mileage, while the gearbox has been retuned to deliver the torque in a better manner than the current model. The Linea will also come with a new colour – the ‘cool jazz blue’ which we have already seen on the Punto.
Fiat Bravo
Fiat in its typical Italian fashion, has been a leader in producing small cars for the masses. And joining in the fleet is the Fiat Bravo which is expected to land on the Indian shores in mid 2010. The small family car was first introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, 2007 and was designed By the Fiat style centre. The Austrian automotive company Magna Steyr was in involved in engineering most of the car’s body and fittings.
The Bravo which will be launched in India will house a 1910cc, 16- valve turbocharged multijet engine which will power out 150 bhp @ 4000 rpm. The Bravo is believed to achieve the 0 to 100 kph mark in about 9 seconds. The hatchback will certainly be one of the most sought out cars at the Fiat’s booth this year at the Auto Expo.
