The U.S. Open of Surfing is a week-long surfing competition held annually during the summer in Huntington Beach, California and is the largest surfing competition in the world. Vans is a popular United States based manufacturer of shoes, active in the actions sports industry and sponsors skateboard, surf, snow, BMX, and Moto X teams. Vans is famous for it’s unique style pattern and design and finds many fans across the world. This time they found a fan in Fiat and the Italian car-maker has decided to dress up one it’s coolest looking cars in their design.

At the Vans US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif, the Italian car-maker will debut a Fiat 500L Vans design concept. Details from Vans original hi-top shoe are echoed throughout the vehicle, including vintage palm-patterned canvas, Vans logo stickers on the instrument panel and Vans Waffle Sole on the pedals and in storage bins. On the exterior, the roof displays the iconic Vans Checkerboard pattern, while the step pad, cladding and grille texture are accented with the Waffle Sole design. Other unique features include a two-tone body color paint scheme, 18-inch matte black wheels and a roof rack with a basket and a double-decker surfboard carrier.

The Fiat 500L is a five-door mini based on the design of Fiat 500. The 500L can be specified with an in-vehicle espresso machine that uses Lavazza pods, which makes the 500L the world’s first production car to feature such a facility. It can be bought in more than 300 colours and the interiors can be configured in more than 1500 different ways.
