Mercedes-Benz officially announced the latest offering from its stable that provides for tangible external strengths, great intrinsic values, maximum benefit and low costs, the new Vito. From skilled crafts and trades to retail, service providers, shuttle services and taxis – the new Vito is truly one vehicle for all. With up to 1,369 kg of cargo capacity, it has the highest payload in its class. Meanwhile the Vito Crew featuring a crewcab combines the advantages of a panel van with those of a crewbus.

The passenger variant of the new vehicle is named as Vito Tourer and will be offered two versions available: the versatile Vito Tourer PRO and the premium Vito Tourer SELECT. By virtue of this complete model family, the Tourer can be tailored to accommodate all types of passenger transport.

The Vito is the first car in this segment that comes not only in rear-wheel drive but also in front wheel drive. Power is sourced from two turbodiesel engines in five power ratings altogether. It has a transverse-mounted, compact four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1.6 litres and which is available in two power ratings: the Vito 109 CDI with 88 hp and the Vito 111 CDI with 114 hp.

The new Vito can also be offered in a rear-wheel drive and four-cylinder engine with a 2.15-litre displacement configuration. It is available at three power output levels Vito 114 CDI, 136 hp; Vito 116 CDI, 163 hp, and Vito 119 BlueTEC, 190 hp. As the first Euro 6 engine in this class, the Vito 119 BlueTEC occupies a special place.

While the six-speed manual transmissions handle power transmission as standard, a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission with torque converter is also available as an option for the Vito 114 CDI and Vito 116 CDI and comes as standard equipment on the Vito 119 BlueTEC.

The new Vito comes with up to eight airbags and new assistance systems such as a seat belt reminder, Attention Assist, Crosswind Assist, tyre pressure monitoring, Active Parking Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist.

The Intelligent Light System (ILS) provides an alternative in the new Vito to the standard, powerful halogen headlamps. Unique for vans, this technology consists of LED indicators, LED daytime running lamps, as well as LED low-beam headlamps and main beam with cornering light function. Depending on the road speed, the headlamps adapt for driving on motorways or country roads by varying the light distribution.

The price of the new Mercedes-Benz Vito is still to be announced.
