Ferrari could be testing 2014 F1 engine in LaFerrari

Spy photographers recently spotted a LaFerrari clocking test miles on the Fiorano track.

As can be checked out in this Youtube video, the car’s soundtrack doesn’t belong to a V12 engine. It doesn’t even belong to naturally aspirated engines, which Ferrari plans to introduce in near future. All this has made everyone believe that Ferrari could be testing a V6 1.6-liter engine that would power Ferrari’s 2014 Formula 1 car.

Also, at 0:15 seconds, it can be noticed that the prototype has a roof scoop, which isn’t a part of the production spec LaFerrari. The fact that Ferrari could be testing its next F1 car’s engine in the LaFerrari doesn’t come across as surprising. Around 2006, when 2.4-liter V8 engines were about to be introduced in Formula 1, Ferrari tested these motors in the Enzo flagship.
