The Takata airbag episode is back to haunt the car makers as Renault plans to recall 646 cars over faulty units. The recall will involve the Renault Pulse hatchback and the diesel variant of the Scala sedan manufactured between September 2011 and July 2012. No incidents related to faulty airbags have yet been reported and this is a voluntary recall from the company.

In a statement to ET Auto, a company spokesperson said, “Renault is conducting a voluntary check on certain potentially affected Renault vehicles (620 Pulse and 26 Scala — produced between September 2011 and July 2012) which may have a possibility of driver airbag problem.”

Renault India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault S.A., France, currently offers five models in the Indian market – Scala, Fluence, Koleos, Duster and Pulse.
