Bajaj Auto plans to introduce six new products in a short time span of six months and is venturing into different genres of motorcycles. After a successful run with the Pulsar 200NS, Bajaj now plans to enter newer segments of motorcycles with the Pulsar 200AS (Adventure Sport), a motorcycle that was earlier spotted at Bajaj’s facility in Pune. The Bajaj Pulsar 200AS is mainly targeted to the tourer motorcyclists. Bajaj will also launch fully-faired 200cc and 400cc models of the Pulsar, while a more premium variant, the cruiser sport CS 400, is expected to reach the showrooms some later this year.

These latest spy images of the Bajaj Pulsar 200AS were snapped by our avid reader Rohan Jirage who spotted the test mule on the outskirts of Pune. The Bajaj Pulsar 200AS is based on the naked street-fighter motorcycle, the Pulsar 200 NS. This Adventure Sport variant sports a taller windshield, projector setup for one of the beams and a half-fairing. The tail end, instead of a smaller number plate holder, receives a longer rear fender which should protect the rider from dirt and mud flying off the wheel.

Mechanically, the Pulsar 200AS will share the power plant with the 200NS. So, expect to see the same 199.5 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 23 bhp of power and 18.3 Nm of torque with a 6-speed gearbox. Bajaj may also tune the engine for a linear power and torque distribution to match with the adventure nature of the motorcycle. The suspension might also be tweaked to match with the dual-purpose characteristic of the motorcycle.

Earlier spy images from Bajaj’s test track in Pune indicate that the motorcycle is near production ready and we expect the Pulsar 200AS to be one of the six products lined up for launch from the Indian two-wheeler major. We expect the prices to hover around the Rs 1.20 lakh mark but Bajaj might surprise us with a lower introductory price tag!
