Spotted near the city of Ahmednagar, our source Aditya not only had the opportunity to capture a few images of the exterior as well as the interior of the Nexon but also had a short conversation with the driver of the test-mule. According to the driver, the Nexon returned a fuel efficiency of 24-26 kmpl. It remains unknown whether the model was powered by a petrol engine or a diesel engine. Aditya further added that multiple units of the Nexon test-mule were in tow and were headed to the Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) for approval.

Coming to the spy images, the model in question, a base variant, was equipped with steel wheels while the roof featured a shark-fin antenna, hinting that it will be available as a standard feature. Inside, the base variant of the Nexon comes with dual tone interior, five speed manual transmission and three drive modes (City, Eco and Sport) that can be changed with the help of a rotary knob besides the hand-brake.

Powertrain details of the upcoming Tata Nexon remain scarce although previous reports suggested that the model could be powered by a 1.2-litre three cylinder turbocharged petrol motor and a new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motor. Once launched in India, the Tata Nexon will rival the Mahindra TUV300, Ford EcoSport and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Expect the Nexon to arrive in showrooms by the end of the year.
