EICMA 2016 : New Suzuki V-Strom 250 to attract broader range of riders

The new V-Strom 1000 and V-Strom 650 along with the XT variants, made their debuted at 2016 Intermot show. The Japanese two-wheeler maker further expanded its V-Strom range by unveiling the V-Strom 250 (DL250) at the 2016 China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition. Now, the new quarter-litre has arrived in Europe at the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show.

The V-Strom 250 gets an unmistakable V-Strom family silhouette with that beaky fairing and rugged bodywork. Similar to the V-Strom 650, the quarter litre tourer gets alloy wheels and conventional telescopic suspension upfront. However, unlike the V-Strom 1000 and V-Strom 650, the headlight on the V-Strom 250 is spherical. Information is displayed to the rider on a reverse-lit LCD instrument panel, and includes information such as speedo, rev counter, gear position indicator, and fuel range, and sits inside a compact screen that has been extensively wind tunnel tested for optimised weather protection.

Mechanically, the new V-Strom draws power from a redesigned version of Suzuki’s 248cc parallel twin engine. The parallel twin engine has been designed to focus on the engine’s low and mid-range torque, delivering 23.4Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The punchy twin-cylinder power-plant revs on to produce peak power of 25PS at 8,000rpm.

Similar to the bigger V-Strom 1000 and V-Strom 650 models, the V-Strom 250 benefits from an integrated luggage system that removes the requirement for an additional rack for the fitment of Suzuki’s genuine side cases. An additional top box is also available from Suzuki’s accessory range.
