It was early last month when we reported that the EcoSport rivaling SsangYong XLV will make its public debut at the fast approaching Geneva Motor Show. Now, a SsangYong XLV test mule has been spotted testing and the highlight of the recent spotting is the fact that these pics provide us a sneak peek of the car’s interiors.
As can be seen in the spy shot, the car gets a four-spoke steering wheel, which will come with audio controls. The instrument cluster will boast of two circular, with a sprinkle of chrome at their circumference. The centre console will hold a large infotainment screen along with the usual suspects (Read Buttons, Knobs, Entertainment System, et al).
The car maker earlier announced that the upcoming XLV concept is 290 mm longer than the XIV-1 concept and hence, the XLV would be 4,430 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, and 1,600 mm high. The car will have a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The XLV will boast of a seven seat (2+2+2+1) layout. However, we have also got to know that the car maker plans to also launch a five seater variant that will be pitted against the Ford EcoSport, Nissan Juke, Renault Duster, and other compact SUVs.
Underpinning the new XLV is a new platform, which has been jointly developed with Mahindra and Mahindra. The Indian UV giant will be using this platform for its upcoming compact SUV. The XLV will be powered by a diesel hybrid drivetrain that will comprise of a 1.6-liter diesel engine and an electric motor that will be powered by a lithium ion battery.
