Ducati Reportedly Plans To Enter Scooter And E-bike Segment By 2021

Electric is the future and if reports are to be believed, one of our favourites Italian brands may participate in the electric motorcycle segment very soon. A recent report suggest that Ducati may venture into scooter and e-bike segment by 2021. The transition into electric motorcycle segment is inline with Volkswagen’s (Ducati’s parent company) plan to go electric.

Edouard Lotthe, managing director of Ducati Western Europe, told moto-station.com that Ducati plans to enter the scooter and an e-bike, although we may not see the first products till 2021. Lotthe said, “We benefit directly from the partnerships signed between the German manufacturers and some suppliers like Bosch. And then, we were able to access the tools already present in the group, at the level of finance or insurance for example.”

Meanwhile, Lotthe also confirmed that the Italian brand does not plan to enter the sub-300 cc motorcycle segment stating that it would “be too small… and damaging to the brand’s prestige.”

We’re sure you’re excited to hear about the possibility of Ducati entering new segments. Let us know your views through the comments section below.
