It has emerged that famous Italian bike maker Ducati is busy with working on to expand its Monster line-up of bikes to enable it to cater to a wider spectrum of bike buyers. The bike you see here is the upcoming Ducati Monster 1198. The bike has been recently spotted testing in Europe by Moto.it.

The upcoming naked bike from Ducati will help the bikemaker’s Monster brand to penetrate into the coveted superbike segment. The upcoming Monster 1198 should come across as an amalgam of ease-of-riding and superbike power.

While the 1198 test mule that has been spotted wore high levels of camouflage, it is pretty easy to spot that the bike will borrow quite a few styling cues from the Ducati Diavel. However, the Monster 1198 will continue to sport trademark Monster design bits such as an exposed Trellis frame, a bulky fuel tank and a subtle tail end.

The bike could be powered by a liquid-cooled 1198cc Testastretta V-Twin motor that would have at least 150 horses and will make the 1198 the most powerful Ducati to wear Monster badge.

The upcoming Ducati Monster 1198 will be launched in 2013 EICMA show that will be held later this year. What is going to be interesting  is to see how Ducati decides to position Monster 1198, without making it to eat into the sales of Diavel and Streetfighter.

We can’t wait to clock some miles on the 1198 Monster and spend some quality time with the biggest-ever  ‘Monster’ from Ducati. What about you?
