That the Jeep vehicles are coming to us is a well known fact. Now, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee test mule has been spotted testing with a Jeep Wrangler in Mumbai. This is not the first time that Jeep vehicles have been spotted in India. Regulars here would remember that a trio of Jeep vehicles was spotted in Pune on more than a couple of occasions. However, this is indeed the first time that a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been spied in India.
The 2014 Grand Cherokee sports revised front & rear end styling and comes with a handful of new features to remain fresh in the global market. The Jeep Grand Cherokee facelift gets sleeker headlamp units with the quintessential DRLs and a revised front grille. The rear of the car too has been redesigned and gets clear lens tail lamps and chrome exhaust tips. The manufacturer claims that the new rear end makes the car more aerodynamic and hence, aids performance and efficiency.
On the inside, the car gets new upholstery and the new UConnect multimedia infotainment system. Other updates include an updated 115V power inverter, dual zone aircon made standard on all models, a centre console CD player, ambient lighting, new HVAC Controls, redesigned instrument cluster and steering mounted pedal shifters.
In international markets, the car comes with following engine options-
- 3.0 litre V6 diesel
- 3.4 litre V6 petrol for base model
- 5.4 litre HEMI V8 for higher variants
- 6.4 litre HEMI V8 for SRT.
The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be brought to us via completely built unit (CBU) route and it is anybody’s guess that we will get the 237bhp 3 Litre V6 turbo diesel engine for our market. This engine variant gets the new ZF 8 speed auto ‘box for transmitting all that power to the four wheels. The car also gets a start stop system to aid fuel economy.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Wrangler, which will be launched in India sometime towards the end of this year, aren’t the only two Jeep products that are coming to us. Jeep will also launch a B-Segment SUV in 2015 and will launch a C-Segment SUV in 2016. Jeep India will have a dealer network comprising of 82 dealers and even more service centres.
