Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, MD, Mercedes Benz India, resigns!

The smiling face standing next to some of the best German luxury cars that we have seen quite repeatedly in the recent past will no longer be seen. Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director at Mercedes Benz India has reportedly put in his papers. Dr. Aulbur was one of the key personnel responsible for Merc’s comeback in the recent months after the brand faced some cut throat competition from compatriots BMW and Audi. The former even dethroned Mercedes Benz India last year to become the top selling luxury brand in India. However, this year Mercedes Benz bounced back and how! Dr. Aulbur and his team worked towards increasing Merc’s sales figures by 84% as compared to last year.

But now that the plant at Chakan is fully functional the Mercedes Benz brand is back on track with a slew of new models approved for India, Dr. Aulbur has decided to part ways with the carmaker. Married to an Indian and bearing as much love for India as his own country, Dr. Aulbur is said to have made a decision to stay in the country forever. Sources say that Dr. Aulbur will now move out of the automobile industry and pursue his career in a new field. However there are some sources that have quickly claimed that his resignation may have something to do with Audi. Dr. Aulbur will continue with Mercedes Benz till another suitor is identified. Our best wishes are with the recent face of Mercedes Benz India!
