It has emerged that the next-generation 2015 Ford F-150 will make its public debut at the upcoming 2014 North America International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show) in January next month.

The next gen 2015 Ford F-150 will have abundance of aluminum in its bodyshell.

The 2015 Ford F-150 is expected to be powered by a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and the new powerplant should enable the pick-up to have a fuel efficiency of around 30 mpg on the highway.

It is being said that Ford Motor Company has got in touch with Alcoa Inc., the manufacturers of aluminum blast shields for military vehicles, to lend some military-grade aluminum for 2015 Ford F-150 display vehicle in Detroit. Ford says that it wishes to let people know that aluminum is not just lightweight, but is also durable and strong enough to suit the requirements of a typical Ford F-150 owner. Thanks to the abundance of aluminum being used, the next gen F-150 is likely to be as much as 750 lbs lighter than the outgoing model. The weight loss will further improve the fuel economy and vehicle performance.
