The Moscow Auto Show is on at full swing and Datsun is ready with their 2015 mi-DO hatchback, hatchback that Datsun optimistically calls “practical yet sporty.” It’s essentially a two-box derivative of the Russia-specific on-DO sedan, launched a few months back. Styling continues to be the same, but the mi-DO features a different set of headlamps and slightly different bumper work with revised air intakes. The distinctive Datsun grille continues unchanged on the mi-DO, while it also has a shorter overall length of 3,950mm.

Also worth noting is the fact that the mi-DO is almost entirely based on the Lada Kalina hatchback, manufactured by AutoVaz.(You can read more here). A 1.6-liter engine resides under the hood and produces 87 bhp (65 kW). It is mated with a five-speed manual transmission while a four-speed automatic transmission is optional.

The mi-Do will go on sale in Russia next year, and is expected to undercut the Lada Kalina by a fair margin.
