Recently, the Datsun Go hatchback was in the limelight for wrong reasons after it received zero stars in the ANCAP safety crash tests. Based on the same platform as the Go, Datsun’s second product for India will be the Go+ MPV which was spied in Pune recently. The Datsun Go+ MPV will be built at the Nissan-Renault factory in Chennai. Following the Go+ will be the Redi-Go concept based vehicle for the Indian market.

The Datusn Go+ is a seven seater MPV based on the Go hatchback and shares the platform with the Nissan Micra. The Datsun Go+ is 3.95 in length, 1.6 meters in width and 1.4-meters in height. Thanks to its sub-4 metre length and 1.2 litre petrol engine, the Datsun Go+ MPV will benefit from lower excise duty when it is launched in India some time next year. The MPV has a wheelbase of 2450mm. The diesel engine on the MPV will be Nissan-Renault’s tried and tested 1.5 litre mill.

As seen in earlier spy images, the Datsun Go+ also gets front seats with integrated headrests. The equipment on offer in the MPV will be more or less similar to the ones on the Go hatchback. Also, the interiors will be same as the Go hatchback with a few changes thrown in.

  1. WIth an unstable car as its base, an elongated version is likelier to be even more unsafe! Still, better than an omni or eeco.
