The highly successful Dacia Duster aka Renault Duster has surely been doing a world of good to its manufacturer. The Duster is among the top selling Compact SUVs across the globe and such is the popularity of this car in India that it has managed to replace the ‘mighty’ Mahindra Scorpio at the top of the SUV sales charts.

However, thanks to the advent of fresher competition in the guise of a certain Ford EcoSport, sales of the Duster have witnessed quite a dip in most international markets it is sold in. There is no denying that the Duster is a well sorted out car and is definitely not dated but the fresher looks and newer engines of the EcoSport seem to have made a really good impression on the minds of compact SUV buying folks.

News of Dacia readying the Duster facelift has been doing rounds since a couple of months and now, it has emerged that the carmaker has decided to quicken the development due to the fast falling sales. A Duster facelift was recently spotted testing in Spain. The Duster has been on sale in international markets since almost a couple fo years and it is hence not really early for the carmaker to give it a facelift. The EcoSport effect has rather made it all the more important for carmaker to endow the compact crossover with fresher look.

Speculations were aplenty that the Duster facelift would look much like the D-Cross concept that was showcased at the Sau-Paulo Motor show in Brazil last year and it would be really interesting to see if the Duster facelift would take design cues from the Duster D-Cross.

One look at the spy pic you see here and it becomes easy to predict that the Duster facelift would come with revised facelifts, new front grille and maybe a revised front bumper. The car would also get new tail lights and 5th door at the rear. The interiors are expected to see an upholstery change and some more gadgets. These could include a cruise control and sat-nav.

The Renault Duster facelift could arrive in India soon after its Indian debut, what with the EcoSport looking really busy with taking the SUV segment by storm? Talking about the Renault Duster facelift release date, the same is expected to fall somewhere in the end of this year/early next year.

The India spec Duster is available with 3 engine options- 2 diesels and a petrol. We expect these engines to remain unchanged for the facelift. We also expect Renault India to slash the prices of the car to make it a more value for money proposition than the EcoSport.
