The Chevrolet Tailblazer SUV has been launched in India, and has been priced at INR 26.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). To be sold in India as a CBU, the premium SUV will be only available in the range topping LTZ trim. You can also book yours online, as Chevrolet India has joined hands with e-commerce website Amazon India for letting customers book the Trailblazer.
In India, only one drive-train option is available for the Trailblazer, which includes a new generation, 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel, in-line 4 cylinder engine, delivering 200 hp at 3,600rpm, and 500 NM at 2,000rpm, clubbed to a 6-speed automatic transmission. No 4-wheel drive option is available on launch either.
On the outside, the Trailblazer will feature projector headlights, projector fog lamps, a “squared off” rear window, chrome mirror caps, horizontal LED tail lamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Measuring 4,878 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width, and 1,838 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm, the Trailblazer is a big boy. The Trailblazer will be available in three exterior colours – Summit White, Sapphire Black and Switchblade Silver.
The Trailblazer will comfortably accommodate seven occupants . Inside, three-row tumble and fold-flat seating configurations (second row – 60/40 split; third row – 50/50 split) incorporates theatre-style seating that provides second and third-row passengers a better all-around view. Other interior highlights include a dual tone upholstery (Athos Beige+ Charcoal Black), leather wrapped, multifunction steering wheel and seats, dull silver inserts, an integrated infotainment system, and 32 interior storage spaces.
Quite old-school in its approach, the Trailblazer sits on a 8-cross-member ladder chassis configuration and can wade through 800mm of standing water, apart from having a 3-ton towing capacity. Suspension is independent all round and uses a 5-link system at the back. Active safety features include ABS, EBD, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control amongst other things. At this price, the Trailblazer will take on competition from the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Hyundai Santa Fe.
