Popular car maker Ford has revealed the new S-Max Concept that hints at the manufacturer’s “future sport activity vehicle”.

The current S-Max, which is based on the Mondeo, came back in 2006 and this means that Ford is readying itself to come with a complete model replacement for the vehicle. The next gen S-Max could be launched sometime next year.

The recently unveiled Ford S Max Concept reflects the carmaker’s new design language, whose highlight has to be the Aston Martin-ish front grille. Other distinctive features include stylish headlights and steeply raking A-Pillars. The Concept’s headlamps sport ‘Organic LEDs’ that Ford claims has better design flexibility, positioning, response and color range.

Ford also says that the interiors of the concept have been designed to be high on Convenience, Connectivity and Flexibility. The interior panels and overall design is in such a way that the cabin has a “feeling of spaciousness”. The interior can be set up in both four or seven-seat configuration.

The third row of seats of the S-Max Concept employs Ford’s ‘Thin Seat Technology’ and can be raised and lowered in a single action. The car also gets a ‘Dual-View Display’ on the center stack, which offers two different visuals on the same screen.

Powering the new Ford S-Max Concept is a 1.5-litres EcoBoost petrol engine that can be currently found powering the China spec Mondeo. The new Ford S-Max Concept will be showcased at the upcoming IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin on September 6th. The car will also be showcased at the 2013 edition of Frankfurt Motor Show that will commence on September 10th.
