Pics of the upcoming BMW 4 Series aren’t all that the Bavarian car maker erroneously revealed recently. Also leaked online are official specifications and other details of the upcoming BMW 2 Series.
As these details reveal, the upcoming 2’er will go sale in three variants- 220i (petrol), 220d (diesel) and M235i.
The 2 Series 220d diesel variant will be powered by the tried and tested 2.0-liter 4-cylinder oil burner that will make a max power of 181HP and peak torque of 308Nm. The car will be capable of hitting 100kmph from standstill in just 7.1 seconds and will have a top speed of 2m35kph. The BMW 220d will have a starting price of 393,000 Rand (INR 22.23 lakhs) in South America.
The 2 Series 220i petrol variant will be powered by the car maker’s 2.0-liter 4 pot gasoline engine that will make a max power of 181HP and a peak torque of 270Nm. The car will be capable of sprinting to 100kmph from standstill in just 7 seconds and will have a top whack of 235kmph. The BMW 220i will have a starting price of 366,257 Rand (INR 22.68 lakh) in South America.
The 2 Series M235i variant will be targeted at the driving enthusiasts. The car will be powered by a 3.0 liter turbocharged straight-six petrol engine that will have a max power of 322HP and a peak torque of 450Nm. The car will be capable of hitting 100kmph from standstill in a scant 4.8 secs (with automatic transmission; 5.0 seconds with a manual) and will have an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. The BMW M235i will have starting price of 503,079 Rand (approx INR 31.11 lakh) in South America.
