The new GLK is the second of the two upcoming Crossovers (the first being the recently unveiled 2014 GLA) from Stuttgart based German premium car maker Mercedes. The new gen GLK is expected to be unveiled towards the end of 2014 and we also expect the car maker to be quick with developing a right hand drive version, that would surely be India-bound. It may be noted that a RHD version of the current GLK never saw the light of the day due to various engineering constraints with the front driveshaft of the car. The second-generation model (codename X205), which is sure to come to us, has a longer & wider wheelbase and will sport a four-wheel drive mechanism.
It seems development work on the 2015 Mercedes GLK is going on at full swing and a heavily camouflaged 2015 GLK Class was recently spotted by the good folks at WCF. From what can be guessed by looking at these spy pics, it seems that the next GLK would have a more rounded appearance. Other details that can be spotted in these pics are a two-bar grille, a sloping roofline and a curvaceous tailgate.
The next gen GLK would be based on the 2014 C-Class and therefore, we can expect the engine options to be carried over. Possible engine options for the 2015 GLK include:
- 2.2-liter CDI four-cylinder with 170 HP (125 kW)/ 204 HP (150 kW)/ 231 HP (170 kW)
- 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 184 HP (135 kW)/ 211 HP (155 kW)/252 HP (185 kW)
- 3.0-liter V6 with 333 HP (245 kW)
